Hi
I am playing with a Thinkpad T500 for now to get familiar with PHC. Currently I am using opensouse Leap 42.1 on my laptops. My wife's lappy is a t440p i5 4300m. it runs smooth, she uses it mainly for leisure stuff though. Now I am about to get two t440p i7 4710 based lappies for my kids. They will want to bring it to the limit for good. Thus, my motivation to undervolt those nice machines is high (lenovo made a bad job when designing the cooling path).
I am willing to contribute what is possible for me :
- run tests
- report results
- compile and run versions of kernels or hopefully modules
I cannot help coding though (I do C++ stuff but this is for engineering apps, not kernel or modules).
What else would be needed to kickstart haswell support?

The way voltages are regulated changed a bit since the Pentium days. Contrary to what I wrote earlier, it is still possible to undervolt (e.g. the Intel Extreme tuning utility allows for it). Documentation about how to do this is scarce as always (so that would be a start). But above all: time to play with it tends to zero.seuchato wrote:What else would be needed to kickstart haswell support?

Great to hear that it is still possible to undervolt .

Hi...in past we used AppleIntelCPUPowermanagement kext to control power management and some Bios were lockeds, in others words, were not allowed to write information on it, so the patch was created for kext AICPUPM to solve this problem.
