PHC on Debian ... giving up :-/

(You've copy-pasted the output of terminal into the commandline the second time - that doesn't work.)

The problem you're having with regards to the PHC driver is (probably) that your Pentium M may not be not supported by the driver...
Could check what driver is being used with the next command:
