PHC for Linux kernel 3?

Post by Bluubekt » Tue 22. Nov 2011, 17:37

Will there be a release of a PHC patched kernel 3? Since upgrading to Xubuntu 11.10 the CPU on my T43p is idling at 60 degrees and often reaches 70 - not only worrying wrt durability but down right uncomfortable! When I had undervolting set up with 10.04 it ran nice and cool...

It should be out there...

If needed take a look at this guide...

I mean will a packaged released be made available through the PPA?

https://launchpad.net/~linux-phc/+archive/ppa

Or will I have to patch my own?

That's exactly what I meant, there should be a patched 3.0.x kernel package available. But I'm not 100% sure as I don't run Ubuntu linux but Gentoo and thus I don't need a patched kernel.

Anyway for what concerns the driver and the GUI I think you'd better download sources and compile them as written in the guide.

Ah, you see that's exactly why I posted; I can't seem to locate it. The PHC PPA states:

"This PPA contains Ubuntu related kernels prepared for linux-phc."

"Maintained:
* Ubuntu 11.04 Natty
* Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick
* Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid (LTS)"

Not an Ocelot in sight - and all the kernel packages available are for kernel 2.6.

Ah, there it is, many thanks! I did have a look there earlier but couldn't find it - I see it was released on the 23rd of November. Now i have a different problem however; where can I find the phc-intel package for kernel 3? The most recent version I've been able to locate is 0.3.2.12.3-2 and when trying to build it I get "Kernel version not found" (uname correctly reports 3.0.0-13-generic-phc). Any help much appreciated!

Now it is finally in the stable PPA ;) Sorry that it took "a bit" longer than usual.

Ah, yes, I was simply missing the kernel headers. All installed and seems to be working, many thanks!
