current_cpu_data

Post by Gramble » Mon 9. May 2011, 12:32

Hi!

I've downloaded phc-k8_v0.4.3.tar.gz, which I've found in this forum and tried to install the patch after the instructions in the Readme:

Code: Select all

1.a DKMS installation:
----------------------
"DKMS" installation is the easiest way of installing. All you'll have to do is:
o Install "dkms" for your Linux distribution.
o Run "make dkms_install" as root:
    sudo make dkms_install
but it tells me:

Code: Select all

mkdir -p /usr/src/phc-k8-0.4.3
install -m 644 -o root -g root Makefile dkms.conf phc-k8.c phc-k8.h mperf.c mperf.h /usr/src/phc-k8-0.4.3
install -m 744 -o root -g root phc-k8.add /usr/src/phc-k8-0.4.3
dkms add build install -m phc-k8 -v 0.4.3

Creating symlink /var/lib/dkms/phc-k8/0.4.3/source ->
                 /usr/src/phc-k8-0.4.3

Running the post_add script:

DKMS: add Completed.

Kernel preparation unnecessary for this kernel. Skipping...

Building module:
cleaning build area....
make KERNELRELEASE=2.6.38-8-generic -C /lib/modules/2.6.38-8-generic/build SUBDIRS=/var/lib/dkms/phc-k8/0.4.3/build modules....(bad exit status: 2)

Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 2.6.38-8-generic (x86_64)
Consult the make.log in the build directory
/var/lib/dkms/phc-k8/0.4.3/build/ for more information.

Does anyone have a clue, what's the problem or how this problem could be solved? It seems that the current_cpu_data identifier is the problem, but I have no idea why.

Thank you!

I've got the same problem as you!
Oh No I don't!
You don't use any phc kernel which I believe leaves you without the module needed.
I've got 2.6.38-8-generic-phc which should work, but it doesn't..
