problems in installing PHC DKMS package for AMD processors

I installed "linux-generic-pae-phc" and "linux-headers-generic-pae-phc" through PPA, and then installed PHC DKMS package by the command "sudo make dkms_install".
After installation, I checked the directory "/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/". There are no files starting with "phc_", so my installation is failed.
How to make it work? Here are my processes of installation:

mindforce@mindforce-desktop:~/桌面/phc$ sudo make dkms_install
[sudo] password for mindforce:
mkdir -p ""/usr/src/"phc-k8"-"0.4.2"""
install -m 644 -o root -g root Makefile dkms.conf phc-k8.c phc-k8.h ""/usr/src/"phc-k8"-"0.4.2"""
install -m 744 -o root -g root phc-k8.add ""/usr/src/"phc-k8"-"0.4.2"""
dkms add build install -m "phc-k8" -v "0.4.2"

Creating symlink /var/lib/dkms/phc-k8/0.4.2/source ->
/usr/src/phc-k8-0.4.2

Running the post_add script:

Al least it seems the phc-k8 module was built successfully...

To help diagnosing what's wrong, could you check that phc-k8 is loaded with 'lsmod|grep k8'? And what is the output of 'dmesg|grep k8' and what is the content of your /proc/cpuinfo?

Thanks for your help!!!

I checked "lsmod|grep k8" "dmesg|grep k8" and "/proc/cpuinfo" in terminal.
The output is here:

mindforce@mindforce-desktop:~$ lsmod|grep k8

Apparently the phc-k8 driver is not loaded (according to lsmod), but at the moment it wouldn't work for Athlon II processors either, since the driver mentions "pstate" in your dmesg output and not fid/vid (at the moment it only supports fid/vid based undervolting).
I will be on holiday this week and I hope I will have some time to work on the newer driver, but I was planning a beta driver release weeks ago and still haven't made it... It's been a hectic time :(

@d2pal:
did you try (after reboot in your phc-patched kernel - you need one)
modprobe -r powernow_k8
modprobe msr
modprobe phc_k8

Hi,

Any chance that the newer AMD processors will get some love? They feel so lonely :)

Code: Select all

[   20.746145] phc-k8: Found 1 AMD Turion(tm) X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile ZM-85 (2 cpu cores) (version 2.20.00)
[   20.746204] phc-k8:    0 : pstate 0 (2300 MHz)
[   20.746207] phc-k8:    1 : pstate 1 (1150 MHz)
[   20.746209] phc-k8:    2 : pstate 2 (575 MHz)
:(

It's a dual core, as long as they're together, they don't need to feel lonely! ;)

First I want to release an updated version of the current driver (soon) and then I'll focus on these processors, so just wait a bit longer. Initially, I am planning to support only write access to phc_vids and maybe phc_controls.

But I really need someone who owns a hexacore AMD with Core Boost to run the AMD hw_pstate_ctrl reader script located in the Download section, once with Core Boost disabled and one with Core Boost enabled.
