Loads on Debian Stretch, controls available, but no effect

Post by elektra » Fri 8. Mar 2019, 22:56

Hi everyone –

changing phc_vids has no effect on power consumption, even setting (and confirming) that all phc_vids are set to 0 doesn't crash the machine under load (Thinkpad T60 with T5600 Core2) with phc-intel-pack-rev29. OS: Debian Stretch, Kernel 4.9.0-8-686-pae. Kernel and OS are 32bit.

Same effect with 3.16.0-7-686-pae and phc-intel-pack-rev29

Any clues? Thanks in advance,

Elektra

Did you change settings for every single core on your machine? In principle, the patches still work. Just tested by hanging a Core Duo. ;)

Hi lio -

thanks for replying :)

phc_controls is set to 11:0 8:0 6:0 for both cores.

Cheers,
