When will PHC be released for kernels above 4.0.4?
When will PHC be released for kernels above 4.0.4?
I'm using the last intel release of PHC which works just fine for kernel 4.0.4, but won't work for kernel 4.0.5. I haven't tried it for any other 4.0.x or 4.1.x kernels as I figure it won't work due to kernel API changes. I would like to move away from kernel 4.0.4 as it appears to have an annoying swap bug. But I won't be able to until PHC will work with the later kernels.

As far as I know there was no kernel side code change to break phc-intel with kernel 4.0.5. Which distribution are you using? Can you provide logs? What exactly is broken since kernel 4.0.5? Also, the package at http://www.linux-phc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=267 supports the latest kernel.

Re: When will PHC be released for kernels above 4.0.4?
I mistook what was going on with kernel 4.0.5. Apparently there is something wrong with that kernel that is keeping PHC from loading with the modprobe command. Basically it says in a terminal something about an invalid symbol. I was using rev17. I tried rev19 that you provided the link to and had the same problem with kernel 4.0.5. So at that point, I assumed that that particular kernel is bad and moved to 4.1.13. Everything is fine now as rev19 works with this kernel.lio wrote:As far as I know there was no kernel side code change to break phc-intel with kernel 4.0.5. Which distribution are you using? Edit: I use slackware 14.1.
