I succesfully installed PHC on kernel 3.2.0-4amd64 on Crunchbang Waldorf. I installed the latest phctool also. CPU is Intel Core 2 Duo L9400.
Then I changed the vids with phctool. Analysis was empty so I loaded the module msr.
the PHCTool says at Analysis:
target VID: 0 reached VID: 17
17 Is the default vid: it would seem that according to the PHCtool vids below 17 are unreachabe?
What is the problem here?
PS: This is at 800 MHz, lowest frequency.
At highest frequency, 1,86GHz I have set target vid to 23, and according to phctool, the reached vid is also 23, so therefore it seems it was succesfull at lowering the vids at higher frequencies.
Could this be a hardware limitation?
If you run into trouble with PHCTool you can ask for help here.

Thats how Intel designed the CPU. The lowest VID is locked and you can't get lower. Which is such a shame because most of the time a typical CPU is idling at the lowest frequency but phc can't achive anything down there.salamisami wrote:17 Is the default vid: it would seem that according to the PHCtool vids below 17 are unreachabe?
