Interesting, I was already thinking about overclocking to avoid wasting voltage at the lower frequency, but I will have to check the delta power consumption when the cpu is idle.
Patching linux-2.6.33 with phc-intel (both 0.3 and 0.4) hangs acpid, even if phc_intel or acpi-cpufreq are not loaded. Just start acpid (which will start laptop-mode on acpi events) and trigg an apci event (like unplugging the AC). Acpid will stop to work and even kill -9 will not be able to kill it...
