Re: how do you know you're addicted to phc

- You suddenly realize you know the sites' "Error 500" message by heart... :?
- You check the site almost every hour, to see new messages or just to see how often your driver got downloaded (17 times at the moment).

Re: PHC packaging

I looked at DKMS this weekend, and I already got it working for the AMD k8 driver! First I just need to tweak it a bit, but soon I could be able to "repackage" the Intel driver too... Basically, I will need the latest C and header files for the driver, rename it, modify the module name accordingly, ...

Re: PHC packaging

+1! I saw the AMD k8 PHC driver doesn't require to patch the kernel tree, contrary to the Intel patch. When do you think you could release the same driver for Intel processors?? It would be great! Note : it's time to update this post: http://phc.athousandnights.de/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2 ;) Good cat...

Re: Undervolting - differences between RM Clock and PHC

I noticed that the vid to voltage translation is not always the same for all processor lines, at least for AMD processors. It sounds logical that this does not apply to Intel processors either. RM Clock seems to be very well informed, but at least for AMD processors it's quite hard to get all inform...

PHC packaging

I could not come up with a better topic title, but at the moment, AFAIK the PHC driver package is distributed as a patch against the kernel tree. Realistically, the PHC patches are never going to be accepted to mainstream. Therefore, there are IMHO some things to decide: Are we continuing to distrib...

Re: Can I undervolt my CPU?

At the moment, there is no official PHC patch available for AMD processors, but I'm working on it, inspired by "RightMark CPU Clock Utility" and partly based on a previously available PHC patch and a Gentoo patch which I assume is originated from http://people.fh-landshut.de/~sprecht/gentoo/ , but I...

Re: discussion about standartizing

How about just using an /etc/modprobe.d/ file for auto starting the undervolt script, e,g. /etc/modprobe.d/phc-k8:

Code: Select all

install phc-k8 /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install phc-k8 && { /sbin/undervolt start; }
remove phc-k8 /sbin/modprobe -r cpufreq-stats && { /sbin/modprobe --ignore-remove -r phc-k8; }

Re: phc_controls changes

Like most sysfs "files" phc_controls is very sensitive to syntax. Did you end with a newline? (AFAIK, this is defined as required for sysfs file writing). Best is probably to just use: echo "11:34 8:24 6:17" |sudo tee phc_controls By the way, these settings are never saved after a restart, you alway...
